Callouts

Five types. Insert from the Callout dropdown in the toolbar, or from the slash menu (/info, /warning, /danger, /success, /note). ⌘ ⇧ C toggles an Info callout around the current block.

A callout holds any blocks: paragraphs, lists, code, even another callout. While you are editing, the icon in its top-left corner is a button: press it to switch a Warning to a Danger without retyping it. Press Enter on an empty last line to step back out of the callout.

Images

Four ways in:

MethodHow
Upload/image or the Insert menu, then pick a file
PasteCopy an image anywhere, ⌘ V in the editor
Drag and dropDrop a file onto the editor. It highlights while you drag
From URL/embed image or the toolbar image button, then paste a URL

Pasted and dropped images show a spinner in place while they upload, then swap in the image. A failure leaves a short-lived error chip instead of a broken image. An image chosen with /image, the Insert menu or Replace that cannot be uploaded is not inserted, and the reason appears at the top of the app.

Limits are enforced by the server: 10 MB per image, and JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, or SVG only.

Click an image to select it. A toolbar appears with:

  • Width presets: S (25%), M (50%), L (75%), Original (100%).
  • Drag any corner handle for a custom width.
  • Align left, center, or right. Aligning left or right drops an unsized image to 50% so the shift is visible.
  • An alt text field.
  • Replace (upload a different file) and Remove.

On a published page, click an image to see it full size, and press Escape to close it. Readers can also make every image and diagram on a page compact; see Reading diagrams and images under Tables, Code, and Diagrams.

File attachments

/file, or File Attachment in the Insert menu. The limit is 50 MB.

The server accepts documents (.pdf, .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, .pptx, .odt, .ods, .odp, .txt, .rtf, .csv), archives (.zip, .tar, .gz, .7z, .rar), text and code (.json, .xml, .yaml, .yml, .md, .html, .css, .js, .ts), media (.mp3, .wav, .ogg, .mp4, .webm, .mov), and images.

A file the server will not accept is not attached. The reason, such as the type not being allowed, appears at the top of the app.

An attachment renders as a card with a type icon, the original filename, and the size. Buttons on the card download it, toggle an inline preview, and remove it. PDFs, images, audio, and video preview in the page. Office documents preview through the Microsoft Office Online viewer, which requires internet access and a publicly reachable file.

Embeds

The Embed dropdown offers YouTube, Figma, Vimeo, and Generic Embed. Insert one, paste a URL, and the block works out the provider itself. An embed left without a URL shows nothing to readers.

Recognized providers: YouTube, Vimeo, Figma, Loom, Miro, Airtable, Typeform, Framer, Google Drive, Google Sheets, CodePen, CodeSandbox, Spotify, and Twitter/X. Anything else falls back to a plain iframe.

Drag the bottom edge of an embed to change its height. Invalid URLs are rejected with “Please enter a valid URL” rather than rendering an empty frame.
